Overture Seeks 2012/13 Gallery Applications

Madison-area visual artists are invited to submit work to be considered for display in the Overture Galleries during the 2012/13 season.

The Overture Galleries 2012/13 Season Application deadline is April 2, 2012. All artists interested in exhibiting in Overture Galleries in 2012/13 must complete an application and return it with all required materials. Application requirements are listed on the Gallery Application and include: digital images of representative artwork, written description(s), résumés, etc.

An informational meeting about the Overture Galleries application process will be held WED, FEB 22, 2012, 6–7 pm. The meeting will take place in Rotunda Studio located on the lower level of Overture Center for the Arts.

Overture Galleries is accepting both group and individual applications. Individual applicants who reside in Dane County and whose work is accepted will be curated into a group exhibition. Group applications must be organized with a strong conceptual and visual theme. Group proposals must include work by at least two artists and the majority of artists must reside in Dane County.

The Overture Galleries continue Overture Center’s commitment to fostering outstanding local visual arts and look forward to the upcoming season. Located in Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State Street, the Overture Galleries radiate off the Rotunda lobby on three levels and serve as entryways to the Capitol Theater.

The Overture Galleries serve as a premier venue for exhibiting professional and community art.The Galleries further Overture Center’s mission in advocating for the development of the arts in the community and in providing a world-class forum for diverse artistic expression. In each annual season, four shows are selected for each gallery, each show lasting approximately three months. Applicants are encouraged to preview the spaces prior to submitting an application.

Overture Galleries are free and open to the public and are sponsored by 77 Square, Madison Investment Advisers and Webcrafters.

Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:30 a.m.–9:00p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
