Windy City Cycling Club Three-day Weekend in Madison

The Windy City Cycling Club (WCCC) in Chicago (the mostly LGBT bike club), hosts a three-day weekend in Madison every July. This year the dates are Friday, July 20th through Sunday, July 22nd.  They're extending an invitation to DS Madison and other local athletes to join them for biking and socializing. Their itinerary is as follows:

On Friday, July 20 th, after lunch in New Glarus, they are planning to ride from New Glarus to Mt. Horeb (40 miles roundtrip) with dinner afterwards back in Madison. You are welcome to join them for the ride, dinner, or both. While the ride to Mt. Horeb is hilly and challenging there is also a casual option to ride along the Sugar River trail from New Glarus.

On Saturday, July 21st, they will do one loop of the Ironman course -- another hilly and challenging ride. They will be meeting (and staying) at the Holiday Inn Express on John Nolan drive at 8:00 a.m. and plan to leave no later than 8:30 a.m. for Verona where they will do one loop of the Ironman course. This ride totals 67 miles from the Holiday Inn Express on John Nolan, including 40 miles of the Ironman loop. If you are interested in the Ironman loop only, which is a shorter distance (40 miles vs. 67 miles), plan to meet at the Fireman's Park in Verona by 9:15 a.m., with a push off by 9:30 a.m. There will also be a more casual flat ride along the Capital City Trail and Badger State Trail to Verona and on to Paoli for those who want a more casual ride. If you are interested in joining them for dinner, everyone is meeting at the hotel at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 22nd, everyone is meeting at the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and leaving for a trail ride at 8:30 a.m. Following a 2 to 3 hour ride, everyone is welcome to have brunch together at a local restaurant. This is the weekend of the Maxwell Street Fair on State Street and the group plans to take it in after brunch.

While everyone is welcome it's important to RSVP for planning purposes. Please RSVP to Mark with WCCC at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for any of the rides or dinner – or if you would simply like more information. Mark would be happy to share the full itinerary with you.
