(Fort Atkinson) The Fort Atkinson Arts Council is holding the second Annual Downtown Arts Walk on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. on East Water Street adjacent to the Fort Farmers Market. This special one-day event will be part of the Fort Atkinson Carnival Days. Many area residents and visitors are expected to shop in downtown Fort Atkinson on this fun filled day. Sponsored and produced by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Atkinson Arts Council, these enjoyable, family oriented events provide a market for artists, craftspeople and local producers, and an opportunity for interaction between artists and buyers. The Arts Walk supports local artists by providing a lively venue to display their work and to enhance the downtown by providing the community with an educational and entertaining arts experience. Guidelines and artist application forms are available at the Fort Arts Council website: www.fortartscouncil.org Applications are still being accepted until the day of show. Artist applications will be accepted with a fee of $25 per 10’ x 10’ booth. So far this year the following artists are participating: Fran Breneisen, Cindy Craig, Christine Ellis, Peggy Furlin, Judy Grosch, Jen Gustafson, Jame Hoefler, Douglas Huestedt, Twyla Johnson, Marc Klass, Glen Kodus, Jeanne Love, Carolyn Nord, Mary Pratt, Norma Schiefelbein, Amy Weh, Carol Wileman, and Cathy Zivkovich.
Artists are encouraged to participate. A local artist, downtown business owner and arts council representative will make up the judging team. Prizes will be awarded for Best of show and two honorable mention awards. Prizes include a $100 cash prize and $50 Chamber Bucks coupon for best of show; and the 2 honorable mentions will be awarded $50 each along with a Soap & Pepper gift basket. The Fort Atkinson Arts Council invites the community to join us for a fun day with great art available to purchase along with an opportunity to learn more from the artist about what inspires them and how they create the beautiful pieces on display.
