From Club-5.com:
Club 5 sadly informs you of the death of Ed Grunewald, founder of the Club 5 complex. Ed was lost to us on Monday April 21st due to a battle with pancreatic cancer. Memorial services are currently pending and details will be posted in the near future.
Ed was a longtime, active supporter of the community at Club 5 and Manoeuvres. Ed’s wish that Club 5 continue to operate and serve the community will be respected. The Club will maintain its normal schedule, as of Tuesday April 22nd.
Ed's family asks that any memorials be made by donation to the Madison AIDS Network in honor of Ed Grunewald.
A Celebration of Life
Club 5 will be hosting a celebration of Ed's life on Wednesday, May 7th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Club. Friends, customers, and acquaintances are welcome to come share in this time of reflection. A private family service is being held May 17th.
Thank you, Ed
Some might know, some might not but I used to work for Ed. It was no secret that we didn't always see eye-to-eye. But, at the end of the day we were (and still are) fighting the same fight. I respect Ed for his commitment to gay rights and to our community. It takes believing in something entirely to make that something real. I believe Ed saw the same vital need for community that all of our community leaders have and took it upon himself to offer a solution.
I respect, and care about him for that and for coming into my life. I know that he will be missed, because even through our differences, I already miss him.
