There's a great thread on Madison.com with the same name as you see above that's been going for several years - I'd love to start it here, so we can all have a spot to talk about what music we've discovered.
Anyone have anything they're really lovin' that's on your iPod (or turntable)?
Old or new?
I'm curious......
What I'm listening to
Right now I'm enjoying The Puppini Sisters, the cd is called Betcha Bottom Dollar. It has an older, Andrew Sisters kind of sound to it.
What am I listining too.....................
right now I am listining to a song called Where on Fire it is by Northern Room they are a Milwaukee. I saw them back in april at the High Noon Salon. they are a great band, can't wait tosee them live again.
I second Northern Room...
Excellent live show....
They have a track player on their website... www.northernroom.com
Tret Fure
I saw Madison's own Tret Fure at the Holly Near concert several weeks ago. I'm listening to her newest CD, "True Compass". I am particularly impressed with the finger-picking guitar style; I don't hear that too often any more.
Listening to....
Mrartsyfartsy - I like the Puppini Sisters too. I *love* the fact that they took Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" and turned it into a 40s Andrews Sisters song.
My big discovery recently was Laura Nyro....I had heard of her before but only dribs and drabs of her music. But it just hit a chord (no pun intended) with me when I heard it a few months back.....I just got her album "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession" and the album she did with Labelle (yes, THAT Labelle) called "Gonna Take a Miracle". Really AMAZING, I'd recommend them to anyone. (The library has both of these CD's.)
