She is truly in the spirit of Fighting Bob & Wisconsin's progressive movement.
Having said that, I am certainly glad that she is attempting to fix the travesty that left transpeople hanging on the line in ENDA. As a transwoman I was hopeful when I heard the lip service by HRC & others that transpeople would be included & dismayed when we were hung out to dry. Abandoned for the easier path for the rest of the LGB to gain the protections that were afforded by ENDA. It didn't surprise me though. Transpeople have been an afterthought in so many queer people's agendas & even excluded to many people's thinking.
It was transwomen who led the fight at Stonewall far to many forget that detail when telling the tale. I hadn't heard that myself until I read about it just recently or they are dismissed as drag queens.
I also am glad that Tammy acknowledged that gender identity & sexual identity aren't tied together. That is another ubiquitous misconception that I have seen in my years since transition. OF the transwomen I know the majority have become via gender change lesbians. Just this weekend @ Magic Picnic I met people who were surprised that I have a daughter & that my primary attraction sexually is to people born female or identify as female.
Madison is generally a good community to be in for a transwoman if you are in the right areas but we still have a long way to go. Our country has even farther & worldwide it is even a longer journey.
